University admission

The Rio de Janeiro State University(UERJ) is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. UERJ is a Brazilian public university, so no fees or tuition fees are charged and the student has the opportunity to pursue higher education in a university of excellence entirely free of charge. Students may still have the opportunity to apply for scholarships during the course of the undergraduate course.

Anyone with a high school degree can try to get a college degree. Currently the system of entrance in the undergraduate courses is realized through the vestibular UERJ website that is a process of selection of the candidates to a vacancy in the institution. The entrance exams take place annually and are divided into two parts: the first one usually takes place between June and August and is called the Qualification Exam. This phase is marked by an objective test composed of 60 questions. The second one is restricted to candidates who have passed the first phase and is called the Discursive Exam, where the candidate must carry out two tests of specific knowledge, Portuguese and writing. Registration for the entrance exam is open most of the time between March and April.
